Where do these values come from?
Ethical - about 19 years ago, on one of our founders early buying trips to Asia she visited a particular factory that left a lasting memory. She found the factory totally unacceptable in terms of the working conditions, the way the workers were treated and the attitude and behaviour of the owner. When she returned she wanted to find out what good looked like from an ethical perspective and the journey began! Our CEO is totally passionate about going beyond best practice in ensuring workers in our supply chain are treated fairly and within a safe and appropriate environment. This passion has led to our own beyond audit programme in partnership with Oxfam GB.
Sustainability - in 2010 when The Sourcing Team were engaged with a major client working on a project for the 2012 Olympics – the brief asked for products to be produced from environmentally friendly materials, produced as locally as possible and for the products to have an end of life plan. When the team closed off the project after the event the head of sustainability asked the question “shouldn’t we be doing this for all our client's projects?” Our thinking changed! We developed a green team and started to work with suppliers, clients and across the business in doing things differently, with a focus on our environmental impacts as a business and down the supply chain. The environmental policy grew and grew and become an integral part of our business thinking, leading to sustainability awards with EcoVadis and CIPS Sustainability – with a year on year improvement program.
Product compliance – working for many global brands in FMCG with their instore campaigns we quickly took the lead in ensuring we could provide expert advice to on the promotional products we provide. We took a responsible approach to doing all the due diligence, testing and checking compliance requirements on behalf of our clients. We take product safety and compliance very seriously, it is a complex area however, we have made it part of our service to guide our clients and help them manage their reputation risk. Our client service director is our compliance lead and has 22 years of experience in ensuring our clients products meet or exceed the legal requirements.
